Benefits of Learning to Swim
There are lots of reasons why your child should learn to swim, but the most important reason is that swimming is the only sport which can save your child’s life.
Drowning is still one of the most common causes of accidental death in children in the UK. Being able to swim is an essential life skill which can open up opportunities to other sports (Kayaking, Canoeing, Rowing, Scuba diving, Surfing, Triathlon, Yachting and more!)
Swimming lessons are the prefect environment for your child to become water confident and a competent swimmer in a safe, fun and progressive environment. Lessons provide an opportunity for building friendships sharing the love of the water and their achievements as they progress.
Swimming is a great way to keep active and healthy and once learnt, it’s like learning to ride a bike; you don’t forget. Swimming can be learnt at any age, but we advise that children learn to swim as soon as possible from the age of 4 (without adult support in the water). You can start your child’s journey in the pool from 3 months to 4 years old with our SWIMBiES classes for parents and children. Swimming is also one of the most accessible sports for children with additional needs.
