Keynsham Leisure Centre is set to host a free Inclusive Sport Taster Morning on Sunday 7th September, offering local residents the chance to try fun and accessible sports in a welcoming environment.

Running from 10am to 11am, the session is open to children aged seven and over, as well as adults of all abilities. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and no booking is required—just turn up and take part.

Delivered by qualified coaches from Nova Sports, a local organisation known for championing inclusive and disability sport, the morning will feature two exciting activities: wheelchair basketball and boccia. Both sports are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and suitable for people with a wide range of abilities and experience.

Wheelchair basketball offers fast-paced fun and a great workout, whether you're a seasoned player or a complete beginner. Boccia, a seated Paralympic sport similar to bowls, is all about precision and tactics, —and can be played by people with a range of physical abilities.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for local families and individuals to visit Keynsham Leisure Centre and try something new,” said Mark Harrison, GLL's Community Sports Manager for Bath and North East Somerset and Swindon. “It’s all about trying something new, having fun, and showing that sport really is for everyone.”

The event aims to break down barriers to participation and promote an inclusive, community-focused approach to fitness and wellbeing. Nova Sports will soon be running inclusive sessions from Keynsham Leisure Centre on a weekly basis.

Whether you're curious about adaptive sports, looking for a new challenge, or simply want to enjoy an active morning with others, come along and get involved.
