Throughout April we are proud to be supporting Carers Active April. The main aim of the campaign by Carers UK is to support unpaid carers to be more physically active.

Research by the charity Carers UK shows how important being physically active is to carers, with 73% saying that being physically active makes them feel good about themselves and helps them to feel more connected to other people.

However, three quarters of unpaid carers (76%) are not able to do as much physical activity as they would like because of the pressures of their caring role.  Many want to know how to build this into their busy lives.

The Carers Active campaign is funded by Sport England through the National Lottery. It is part of the ongoing Carers Active project which aims to make it easier for more of the UK’s estimated 5.7 million unpaid carers to be more physically active and feel the benefits of moving more.  Unpaid carers can sign up to the Carers Active mailing list to receive updates about Carers Active April.

Membership Offer

What's more we'll be offering a reduced rate membership for members of Carers UK from April 17th - May 14th 2023.

  • Members of Carers UK will be entitled to Better Health Carers UK (£30 per month) membership offer between 17th April – 14th May 2023. 
  • Eligibility is people in receipt of Carers Allowance and/or members of Carers UK

How do you prove you are a member of Carers UK?

  • Carers UK will send an email to all of their members (Approx. 36,000) with details of the offer and confirmation of their unique Carers UK membership number. You can join their mailing list here. 
  • When joining online Carers UK members must upload a screenshot of the email with their membership number in order to receive the membership offer
  • Members of Carers UK who wish to purchase their membership in a GLL centre must print out the email and present to a member of staff
  • Carers UK members can access the membership offer by clicking on the "JOIN NOW" button which will be imbedded in their email  
  • The membership will visible online on or just before 17th April
