Belfast Better Club Games 2025

Better hosted our 2025 Club Games at Girdwood Community Hub on the 20th of October. We welcomed over 50 participants aged 60+ from our centres at Avoniel, Brook, Girdwood, Falls, Lisnasharragh and Olympia, along with a team from the Move Forward programme. Members competed in several sports such as Indoor Bowls, Boccia, Pickleball, Darts and Table Tennis.

The Better Club Games has become a major event in the calendar for leisure centres in Belfast, the one-day activity filled event brings together our 60+ members in a fun, sociable but competitive environment to represent their local centre pitting them against other Better leisure centres in the city to take home the sought after Better Club Games trophy.

On the day each member was given a Better t-shirt with each centre having their own dedicated colour. The centre colours were White for falls, Grey for Brook, Black for Avoneil, Turquoise for Girdwood and Dark Blue for our Move Forward programme.

The Better Club Games are a great opportunity to socialise amongst leisure centre groups while competing and having fun as members are cheered on by centre team members and staff. The events can get competitive, but the fun friendly atmosphere makes it clear that it is the taking part that counts.

The day itself was full of friendly competition with plenty of laughs and a good level of sportsmanship throughout. Falls once again took home the Better Club Games trophy this year, their third consecutive win in which turned out to be a great day for all!
