EASTERN LEISURE CENTRE - FITNESS CLASSES

Staying motivated can always be a challenge, but with a wide variety of fitness classes available here at Eastern Leisure Centre, you'll find the perfect way to keep active. 
Whatever you are looking to achieve we have classes for the whole community, from our standard fitness classes to classes especially for an older adult, we’ve got something to suit everyone.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Strength and Conditioning classes will help to improve your strength, posture and tone up the whole body. Doesn't matter if you just starting your fitness journey or want to add something different to your training regime, these classes are suitable for all fitness levels. 

Total Body Conditioning

Once you start, you won’t ever want to stop. These intense, exciting classes combine cardio and conditioning and features a range of weight-based exercises for a full on, high-energy workout.

Circuits

Tackle a sequence of physical challenges designed to get you fitter and stronger. In a Better circuit’s class, you’ll perform a testing mix of bodyweight drills and equipment exercises in a chain of circuit training stations.

Box Fit

A class that really packs a punch. Boxfit uses a circuit style combined with a range of boxing techniques to get your heart racing and leave you feeling fighting fit.

CARDIO

Cardio are high-energy classes that will bring your heart rate up and provide a great calorie burning workout to the music. If you need something more challenging to add to your regular fitness routine and improve your cardiovascular fitness these are for you to join in. 

Aerobics

Get fit the fun way. You’ll perform a range of cardio moves, taking each at your own pace, all guided by our friendly, motivational instructors.

Step Aerobics

Step it up and get in great shape. A motivational class using a platform and fast music for a workout you’ll remember. It’s so much fun, you’ll forget you’re working out!

Group Cycle

Pedal your way fit. Group cycling is an exciting yet rigorous form of endurance training, ideal for improving lower-body strength and kicking your cardiovascular fitness up a gear.

HIIT

Better results, faster. Push yourself to the limit with 30 minutes of quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods that will keep your heart rate up and help you reach your goals quicker.

MIND AND BODY

Mind and Body are low-impact classes that not only help build strength, flexibility and balance, but will also bring the relaxation and peace of mind. Stressful day or maybe you just need to give your body a break, these are a great way to stretch and relax. 

Tai Chi (50+)

Focussed relaxation – a blissful combination. Tai Chi is a class based on deep breathing and slow, gentle movements. Try this lower-impact activity that helps you focus.

Centre yourself. Gently train your physique and improve core strength in a calming, low-intensity atmosphere. Pilates exercises focus on concentration and muscle control, transitioning smoothly between one another to build a revived and resilient you.

DANCE

Dance Fit

Dance Fit is an addictive cardio-based dance fitness class. 
Combining high energy, fresh and fun progressive choreography fused with hip-hop, commercial, dancehall and freestyle, providing the perfect blend of dance through fitness. 
It’s for everyone and is easy to follow regardless of your experience, age, ability or fitness level. 
Dance Fit is designed to help you embrace a new way of working out.

Zumba

Junior Fitness Classes

We also run fitness classes just for our younger members. These sessions are suitable for any junior aged 11-17 years old. 
This will give your child the chance to boost their fitness in a safe and friendly environment.

Senior Fitness Classes

At Eastern our Active Leisure Programme is a dedicated programme of activity offering members 50+ a wide range of activities and classes. From 50+ circuits, Aerobics and Strength to Tai Chi, Yoga, Walking Football and Senior Free Swim sessions. Instructors are experienced and classes are designed to engage and challenge members in safe and friendly environment.

Basic Classes

Whatever your level of fitness, everyone is welcome at one of our Basic fitness classes. Our Basics classes are designed for beginners, seniors or those wanting to get back to fitness after a break.

AND PATHWAY CLASSES.

Here at Eastern we support and provide many NHS health and wellbeing services and provide a range of classes to further support members with their health and fitness journey long after they have exited one of our NHS pathways:  

Basics: Whatever your level of fitness, everyone is welcome at one of our Basic fitness classes. Our Basics classes are designed for beginners, seniors or those wanting to get back to fitness after a break. Class found under "Fitness Class". 

Escapee Circuits: This class is designed for those members exiting the Escape Pain programme. Sessions are delivered by our Escape Pain trained instructors and emphasis strength, balance and coordination movements whilst engaging cardio elements to complete the work out. Class found under "Fitness Class".

Parkinsons Specific Circuits: Parkinson’s Circuit is an exercise class for people living with Parkinson's. Sessions are delivered by our Parkinson’s qualified Instructor. The class includes Parkinson’s specific exercise with an emphasis on big movement, high effort, strengthening and co-ordination to challenge the brain and body. This class is a standing class, with the opportunity for people to work at a higher intensity empowering them to manage their Parkinson’s through a station by station-based exercise class. Class found under "Adult Group Sessions".

NHS Water Workout: This session is an aqua based class, delivered in a circuit style, covering a series of exercises to challenge members. NHS physios are on hand during the session to assist with any member concerns during the class. Class found under "Healthwise".
