Eastern Leisure Centre Team Triumphs at Pretty Muddy Cardiff for Cancer Research UK Race for Life
On Saturday 3rd May, a determined team of Better members and staff from Eastern Leisure Centre successfully completed the Pretty Muddy Cardiff 5K obstacle course, raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
Led by Eastern's General Manager, Nikki, the team embraced every muddy challenge — from climbing the towering A-Frame, crawling through the tricky Spider’s Web, to sliding down the event’s iconic Mud Slide. Spirits were high throughout the day as participants supported each other through each obstacle, showing incredible teamwork, resilience, and a lot of laughter along the way.
Pretty Muddy Cardiff is part of Cancer Research UK's Race for Life series, helping to fund groundbreaking research into cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Every step, climb, and splash taken by the Eastern team contributed towards a future free from cancer.
Reflecting on the day, Nikki said:
"I couldn’t be prouder of our team. From the very first obstacle to the final muddy slide, everyone gave it their all. The energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting Cancer Research UK were inspiring to see. We had such an amazing day, and knowing it was all for a cause that touches so many lives made it even more meaningful."
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who supported the team through donations, encouragement, and cheering on the day. Together, we have helped to make a real difference.
Eastern Leisure Centre looks forward to taking part in more community and charity events in the future — continuing to show that together, we are stronger.
