Being able to have the Creative social group at St Austell Leisure Centre cafe, has been amazing and a huge success. All the staff at Polkyth are very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them.Every Tuesday and Friday without fail all the tables and chairs are set up and ready, for us all.Serving great coffee and food, with nice and clean facilities. The loyalty card in the cafe has helped everyone enormously. We truly can't thank the centre enough. Many have made new friends and gained new interests, and their health and well-being have improved dramatically. Several go swimming and use other facilities available. Without this group, there would be a lot of lonely and isolated people. Social Prescribing is continuing to be successful for mental health and well-being.

Here is some feedback given to me from individuals in the group.

Julie:

"I have enjoyed meeting up with a lovely group of people who are always there to help and give you advice on lots of different crafts. It's lovely meeting up with everyone and I thoroughly enjoy the company and friendship of everyone there. Always made very welcomed by you all."

Diana:

"I have belonged to the social creative group for a year now and feel that I have greatly benefited as I have continued to swim every week, it's given me the confidence to meet people again. The group gives me a reason to get up in the mornings. It's a friendly and safe place to meet and get help if needed."

Emma:

"I have made friends and at a time when I was at a low the group was there for me although I cannot make it at the moment I know it is there if I need the company."

Jackie:

"A very friendly group which makes me feel comfortable for the first time in ages."

Pauline:

"The social group is fantastic to meet people and have a nice coffee and chat, good for the mind and well-being, Sharon is very good and brightens up my day."

Paul:

"I feel ok coming into the creative social group on Tuesday."

Carolynne:

"I would say I have made a lot of new friends because of the group."

Marilynn:

"I was stuck in my flat, very low with not much hope. Sharon and the group welcomed me and I met some lovely people. The Cafe is so good and the staff are friendly and helpful.I'm determined to attend and would like to start swimming too. I have hope back."

Steven:

"It is a safe place to meet."

Sue:

"Sharon has a heart of gold and she is happiest when she can move mountains to help others. She is clever at bringing people together by sharing a million craft ideas or by just having a great quality chat over a deliciously made cuppa and toasty tea cake at the pool cafe. I feel lucky to be part of this community. It has made a huge difference in my journey. Tt makes a huge difference in my energy levels, arthritic mobility, weight management and mental function as I age."
