My name is Lowenna and I’m seven years old. I’ve been swimming at since I was 3. I’ve always loved swimming and recently I saw a charity- The Great Ormand Street Hospital (GOSH-) asking for help through a swimming challenge. Swim 5K in March | Great Ormond Street Charity (gosh.org)

At first I was a bit nervous because you have to swim 5,000 metres by the end of March. My swimming teacher Helen said she believed I could do it, so I started recording how far I’m swimming. In one of my swimming sessions I managed to swim 1,000m. I was so proud of myself and without this challenge I wouldn’t have even tried to swim that far. So far I have managed to swim 3,500m and I’m determined to make 5,000m. Maybe I’ll even swim further!

My mum signed up for fundraising through Facebook fundraising. The target was £100 and my family and friends helped my raise that. Now I’m just excited to see how much I can raise for children who are poorly. I can’t imagine how they must feel but I bet having lovely doctors and nurses really helps. Mum said the money can even help mummies and daddies stay close to the hospital.  I know I’d need my Mum and Dad if I was poorly.

My school teach us “You’re never too young to make a difference” so I think this is my way of making a difference and making the world a bit better. I stood up in assembly and told the whole school about it so hopefully other children will want to join in too.

If you want to donate you can follow my fundraising link here: https://www.facebook.com/donate/685573216692902/

I’d be so excited to raise more than my target. Or you can start your own fundraising activity. They have so many ideas on their website
