Deaf Engagement Event at Pancras Square Leisure
As part of this year’s Deaf Awareness Week celebrations, Pancras Square Leisure will host a Deaf Engagement Event on Saturday, 31st May, aimed at promoting inclusion and access to physical activity for deaf people within Better leisure facilities.
The event will take place at Pancras Square Leisure Centre from 12.15pm-2pm, and is open to deaf individuals, community organisations, and anyone with an interest in inclusive sport and fitness.
The day will feature Q&A sessions, open discussions, and tours of the leisure centre, providing a platform to explore how local facilities can better support people who are deaf. Attendees will also have the chance to engage with local organisations to learn more about what’s on offer for deaf people across the borough of Camden.
With physical activity playing a key role in health and wellbeing, the event seeks to break down communication barriers and create a more welcoming environment in sport and leisure. Organisers aim to highlight positive experiences, identify gaps in service, and gather feedback to inform future improvements.
Refreshments will be available, and all guests are encouraged to take part in the informal discussions designed to build understanding and foster change. There will also be opportunity to explore membership options and facilities that we have across the Borough of Camden.
Deaf Awareness Week runs from 5th-11th May, and raises awareness of the challenges faced by deaf people while celebrating their contributions to society. We hope that this event, though taking place later in the month, aligns with this spirit by encouraging dialogue and community connection.
