Meet the newest addition to the Gunnersbury family, Judy.

"My name is Judy Humphries I have worked as a yoga/pilates instructor for Better Gyms for 15 years.

I am also a qualified masseuse, reflexologist and reiki practitioner.

My style of teaching is using the knowledge and skills from teaching all level pilates and yoga infusing this with flow, technique and a good sense of humour bringing in my own unique style to encompass all students"

Judy is taking a new Yoga class every Monday at 10am, in the style on Yin Yoga.

So, what is Yin Yoga?

While Yang yoga focuses on your muscles, yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments , joints and bones.  It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and physical sensations of your body.  Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step “ Lao Tzu

Judy also takes a brand new Pilates class every Monday at 11am, following the 10am Yoga.

Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength.  This helps to improve general fitness and overall wellbeing. Similar to yoga, pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility.Pilates also concentrates on the mind-body connection.
