Following the success of our recent Senior Open Day, Britannia Leisure Centre is launching three new inclusive activities for older adults: Chair Yoga, Pickleball and Short Tennis, starting from 28th April.

The launch builds on the centre’s first dedicated Senior Open Day, held on Tuesday 21 April, which welcomed 94 attendees and showcased a wide range of activities designed to support physical, mental and social wellbeing for residents aged 60+.

During the Open Day, seniors were able to take part in swimming lessons, chair yoga, badminton, pickleball, short tennis, walking netball and a fitness instructor–led gym session. Alongside the activities, attendees had time to socialise over refreshments, creating a welcoming and friendly environment that encouraged connection and conversation.

In response to strong interest, we can confirm the launch of regular Chair Yoga, Pickleball and Short Tennis sessions from 28th April, expanding our existing Senior Club offer which already includes social tea and coffee, swimming, badminton, sauna and steam, aerobics and walking netball.

The new sessions will now take place on:

Short Tennis - Tuesdays - 2-3.30pm - starting 28th April

Pickleball - Fridays - 12-1.30pm - starting 1st May

Chair Yoga - Thursdays - 2-3pm - starting 7th May

These sessions will cost £2.45 to access and are open to those aged 50 and over. This cost also gives seniors access to swim and attend the gym at the centre, during the day in question.
