New Family SEND Swim Sessions
Families in Islington will soon have the chance to take part in a new, specially designed SEND Family Swim programme aimed at helping children with special educational needs and disabilities build water confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Developed through a partnership between Islington Council’s and Better, the eight‑week programme at Cally Pool offers one‑hour sessions that combine warm‑ups, structured swimming lessons and free‑play time. Each session is delivered by fully qualified swim teachers, ensuring families receive tailored support that meets the needs of each participant.
Most lessons will take place in the centre’s training pool, providing a calm, accessible setting for beginners and improvers. Each course can accommodate up to 12 families, including SEND children and their siblings, with at least one adult attending and taking part in the pool. Children need to be at least 4 years old, with a maximum of 4 people per family.
At the end of each block, families will be invited to a relaxed one‑hour feedback session featuring refreshments, a chance to share experiences, and an opportunity to help shape the future of the programme.
The full eight‑week course is available for just £40 per family. If you are interested in taking part, please complete the application form at the link below. Sessions are due to start around April 2026 and will take place on Saturdays 1.15pm-2.15pm.
