BETTER centres in Lambeth have been awarded the Lambeth Made ‘Business Charter Mark Award for Community Impact’ for providing work experience opportunities for young people throughout Lambeth and for the positive impact on the health of the local communities we work with.

GLL were honoured to have been invited and selected to receive the prestigious award alongside seven other organisations which included Brixton BID, Make Shift, Vauxhall One, Veolia, Market Row and Brixton Village. The awards event was held at Lambeth College on Tuesday 3rd March and hosted by Shaff Prabatani, Lambeth Made Community Engagement Manager and Leader of the Council Cllr Jack Hopkins. GLL Lambeth Partnership Manager and the Community Sports Manager were in attendance to receive the award on behalf of the Lambeth Partnership. This was also the first Charter Mark Awards event held as part of the wider campaign in making Lambeth the best place to grow up in for children and young people.

Endorsed by Lambeth Council, the NHS, Local Colleges, Charities, Business Improvement Districts and many other important institutions, this powerful symbol of our effort to support children and young people will be widely recognised throughout Lambeth and beyond. As well as BETTER leisure centres in Lambeth supporting monthly health campaigns, intervention programmes , and supporting various national and local initiatives to engage with children and young people from Lambeth to become more physically active the centres offer over 30 work experience placements each year.
