'5K for 5 years: National Challenge launched to help save men’s lives.

The Gentlemen's Health Hub (GHH), a leading London-based men's health movement, is calling on men across the UK to confront a stark national statistic: men die, on average, five years younger than women. This gap is preventable, largely due to lifestyle diseases and reluctance to seek help for physical and mental health issues. To tackle this, GHH is launching the 5K for 5 Years Challenge this November, transforming simple movement into a powerful, national campaign for health and wellbeing.

The community-driven challenge is open to men of all ages and fitness levels and kicks off on Saturday, November 1st at The Glass Mill Leisure Centre in Lewisham, London.

The launch will be led by ambassadors Carl Wilson-Denis (@cwdizz) and TV fitness personality Marvin Ambrosius (creator of Sky's Fit in 5). The campaign’s urgent message is to focus on prioritising health and fostering open conversation about mental wellbeing.

"The '5K for 5 Years' Challenge is about moving for more than just fitness,” says Derick Dwyer, Founder of Gentleman’s Health Hub CIC. “It’s a voice for all men and a reminder that making time for your health whether it's five minutes of movement or a conversation with a friend is critical. It creates the connection and camaraderie that saves lives."

Throughout November, GHH will host pop-up events across Better Gyms in London, using movement to spark vital conversations. Participants are asked to complete a 5K by walking, running, or cycling, post their progress on social media tagging @Gentlemens.Health.Hub and @cwdizz, and nominate three friends to do the same. Every post will enter the participant into a raffle to win amazing prizes from partner brands from hotel vouchers for a 2 night stay in a 5* resort in Malta to mortgage advise worth £995.

Marvin Ambrosius added: "We want to show men that fitting in just 5K of movement, however they choose to do it, is an achievable way to invest in their future health. This is about changing the mindset, not just the miles."

Carl Wilson-Denis added, "The energy on the ground is what changes culture. We are calling on the press and community to come down, get involved, and help us show the world what active, preventative health looks like."
