As a charitable social enterprise, we're committed to improving our service in your local community. That's why, following the incredible upgrade of the sports hall last year, we are excited to let you know that we'll be carrying out a major redevelopment of Newham Leisure Centre.

Health and Fitness Upgrades
- Upgrading the main fitness class studio with replacement flooring, new lighting, AV and general redecoration
- Converting the creche room downstairs to a multi-use room for Spin Classes and children’s parties
- Reconfiguring the gym layout into dedicated workout zones and upgrading all kit with brand new top-of-the-range Technogym equipment

Soft Play Installation
- Building a brand new three-storey immersive soft play for children under 10, with a dedicated area for under 2s
- Installing a new cafe, to service members and visitors to the new soft play
How long will the improvements take?
Work will begin on the upstairs main gym and studio from 10th March and scheduled to end on the 28th of May.
The lower gym will remain open and fitness classes are all relocated during this time.
The development of a new group cycle studio will then start from 2nd June scheduled to end on 27th June.
The soft play will follow once the health and fitness work has been completed.
Disruptions to service
From 10th March there will be some disruption to services at the centre, such as the temporary closure of the main studio and gym. But don't worry, we'll work hard to minimise the effects on you and will move as much of our fitness class programme to the sports hall and Newham Multi-Sports Hall by the athletics track.
We will also be moving equipment from the upper gym to the lower gym to ensure all your exercise needs are catered for, including our dedicated gym sessions (such as Junior Gym), however, please be aware that Women's Only sessions will not be taking place during the temporary closure.
