This Learn to Swim week we’re helping to raise awareness about the importance of learning to swim and water safety education. Swimming is not only a key life skill, but a great way to improve physical and mental wellbeing in both children and adults.

Terri, our Swim School Lead, explained how “It really makes me smile to see our students grow confident in the water, and it’s so fulfilling knowing that we’re giving them a skill for life!”

Our swim teachers are passionate about what they do and what better place to learn to Swim than at the iconic London Aquatics Centre. Our venue is like swimming, no other pool in the world. After hosting the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games, this world-class venue has been open for everyone to use.

We asked a few of our swim teachers why they also feel learning to swim is so important. Shola described how "swimming is a great life skill, fantastic for fitness and can open up so many opportunities" whilst, Silvena added "swimming has the power to give your muscles a make over, transform you". Bianca explained why it's so vital for kids and adults alike to learn "to be able to be water confident and safe around water is invaluable".

Our dedicated swim teachers are on hand to guide you or your children through our Better Swim School programme and each of our pools are guarded by certified lifeguards to ensure the highest standard of safety.

Better holds over 20 years’ of experience training and nurturing swimmers of all abilities as one of the UK’s largest providers of swimming lessons and courses. As operators of the London Aquatics Centre’s, we work in partnership with The Swimming Teachers’ Association to provide lessons from age 3 months and upward for children, with separate adult swimming lessons for ages 16 and above.

Our instructors are well-equipped with the skills for the job, having graduated from a rigorous course to become certified in teaching swimming and diving lessons. So whether you want to book yourself or a child into an initial lesson or a full course of improvement classes for technique, we have options to suit your interests.

Together we’re helping encourage people of all ages and abilities to get back in the pool, learn a life skill, have fun and get water-ready for the summer holidays!
