We encourage adults who are 60 years old or over to improve their mental and physical health by attending Fitness Fridays at Chingford Leisure Centre.  There are two fitness classes, table tennis, gym and swimming available between 10am and 2.30pm. If travelling is difficult, the 357, 275, W16 and 444 are bus routes that stop outside the centre.  If you need to drive the car park is free.

On Fitness Friday there is Water Workout from 10am to 10.50am in the main pool, a great activity with Tracy. Then from 11am-1pm there is Senior Gym where we encourage older adults to work out in our gym as part of Fitness Fridays. Alternatively you can take break and do another fitness class. Circuits Basics (a range of low intensity exercises) is from 11.30am-12.30pm in Studio 1 with amazing Angie who is a great role model to us all. You can do either class from £4.90 and from 1st of September it includes Senior Gym as well as 'Bat and Chat'.

‘Bat and Chat’ table tennis with Daniel is from 12.30pm-2.30pm where we encourage players of all abilities to get involved. For non-members it is just £2.50, bookable at reception or included with either Water Workout or Circuits Basics.

Senior Gym cost £4.40 unless of course you are monthly member and it’s included. If you buy Senior Gym you can attend Bat and Chat too. Our senior membership is £34.50 per month and you can access fitness classes, gym and swimming whenever you like.

If you are an older adult and have a pay and play card (£11 for the years) or another valid membership then you can swim at off peak hours for free. Off peak hours are weekdays 9am-4pm and weekends after 2pm. The slow lane of the Main Pool is accessible via steps as well as a pool hoist.

Community Sport Manager, Daniel Bank, expressed his views “Through Fitness Fridays we are hoping to create a social group that can encourage each other to be active each week. We have plenty of individuals over 60 years old using Chingford Leisure Centre but research tells us people are more likely to continue with physical activity if they know others attending too. We are offering a range of activities so there should be something for everyone. ” If you have any questions please contact Daniel.Bank@GLL.ORG.
