Manchester Revolution Celebrate Division 2 Championship and Premier League Third Place at Wheelchair Basketball Playoffs
Manchester Revolution Wheelchair Basketball Club closed out a landmark season with major achievements across both of its senior teams at the British Wheelchair Basketball End of Season Playoffs, held at the University of Worcester Arena.
The club’s Premier League team, who were recently crowned league champions for the first time in their history after finishing top of the table in a competitive 12-match season, entered the playoffs with high expectations. In Saturday’s semi-final, they faced long-standing rivals Sheffield Steelers. Despite a strong effort, the Revolution fell 55–37 to the experienced Steelers side.
Refusing to let the setback define their weekend, the Premier League squad returned with focus and determination for the 3rd/4th place playoff match on Sunday. They delivered a commanding performance to defeat London Titans 61–52, securing third place overall in the postseason competition and ending their best-ever campaign on a high note.
The standout story of the weekend, however, belonged to the Revolution’s second team, who were crowned Division 2 National Champions after two superb performances. The team earned their place in the playoffs by finishing as runners-up in the North Division and were matched against South Division winners High Rollers in the semi-finals. In a tightly contested game, the Revolution edged out their opponents 63–55 to advance to Sunday’s final.
They faced Coventry and delivered a dominant display from start to finish. With sharp execution and cohesive team play, the Revolution 2nd team secured a 68–41 victory to lift the Division 2 championship trophy. Both teams' playoff performances reflect the growing depth, development, and success within the club. A Premier League title, a national Division 2 championship, and a third-place playoff finish collectively mark the 2024–25 season as one of the most successful in the club’s history.
The weekend’s games were available via livestream and live statistics through the British Wheelchair Basketball website, allowing fans and supporters to follow the action in real time. With major milestones achieved and momentum building, Manchester Revolution is now firmly established as a force in British wheelchair basketball. The club will now look ahead to next season with a solid foundation and continued ambitions for success across all levels of competition.
