NBA Basketball Without Borders Europe Camp Makes Historic UK Debut at Belle Vue
History was made last week as Manchester hosted one of the most prestigious basketball development camps in the world — the NBA Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Europe Camp — for the very first time in the UK.
Held at GLL Belle Vue Sports Village, this landmark event brought together Europe’s top young basketball talent for five days of elite training and competition, led by some of the biggest names in the sport. NBA legends and coaches including Derek Fisher, Kevin Huerter, Ivica Zubac, Tyson Chandler, Nick Nurse and Sylvia Fowles provided expert guidance, sharing their knowledge and experience with the next generation of stars.
The camp was a proud moment not only for Manchester but for UK basketball as a whole. Players from Manchester made their mark, with Irene, Obinna, Kelvin and Bo all earning awards and selections — a clear sign of the rising talent emerging from our courts.
But the impact of the BWB camp extended far beyond the elite. Through Jr. NBA sessions, more than 200 young people were engaged across beginners’, girls-only, inclusive and age-group clinics — helping to grow the game at the grassroots level. Coaches from our lessons and courses programme also had the unique opportunity to learn alongside NBA staff, gaining invaluable insights that will benefit players and coaching for years to come.
A huge thank you to the Belle Vue team for their outstanding work in hosting such a high-profile event, and to the NBA for their partnership and generosity.
This was more than just a camp — it was a milestone for Manchester and a defining moment for UK basketball.
