As the summer holidays begin, Hough End Leisure Centre is set to become a hub of activity for children, young people and families across South Manchester. With a range of exciting programmes planned throughout July and August, there’s something for everyone – from junior sports camps and intensive swimming lessons, to gym sessions for all ages and abilities.

Multi-Sports Holiday Camps – Active Fun All Week
The ever-popular Multi-Sports Holiday Camp returns this summer with two action-packed weeks planned for those aged 8-12yrs:

πŸ—“ 18th – 22nd August
πŸ•™ 09:00am – 3:00pm daily

Designed for school-aged children, the camps offer a variety of sports and games to keep young people moving and engaged. Activities include swimming, football, dodgeball, table tennis, and squash, all delivered by experienced coaches in a safe and friendly environment. It’s a brilliant opportunity for kids to try new sports, make friends and stay active over the summer.

Swimming Lesson Intensives – Boost Confidence in the Pool
For children looking to improve their swimming, Hough End will also be running Swimming Lesson Intensives across two weeks:

These four-day blocks are ideal for boosting water confidence and helping children make real progress in a short period of time. Lessons are tailored to ability, and parents can rest assured that each child will be supported by a qualified professional throughout.

Junior Gym – Fitness for Young People
Hough End’s Junior Gym sessions give 11–15 year-olds the chance to build healthy habits and enjoy the benefits of gym-based exercise in a supportive environment. Sessions run daily:

Adult & Junior Gym – Fitness Together
Families can stay active together thanks to Adult & Junior Gym sessions, which allow parents and children (aged 11–15) to train side-by-side:

Sundays: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Monday to Friday: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Saturdays: 7:00am – 10:00am & 5:00pm – 7:00pm
This is a great option for families who want to share fitness goals or simply spend time together while staying healthy.

Female-Only Adult & Junior Gym Sessions
In support of inclusive fitness, Hough End is also offering a range of female-only Adult & Junior gym sessions this summer, perfect for those looking for a more private training environment:

Mondays: 5:30am – 9:30am & 11:00am – 12:00pm
Tuesdays: 8:00pm – 10:00pm
Wednesdays: 5:30am – 9:30am & 8:00pm – 10:00pm
Thursdays: 8:00pm – 10:00pm
Fridays: 6:00am – 9:30am
These sessions cater for both adults and juniors and are part of the centre’s commitment to providing a welcoming, inclusive space for all.

Swim for All – Every Day Fun
Throughout the summer holidays, Swim for All sessions will be available daily for families and individuals of all ages to enjoy. These general swim times offer a great way to cool off and have fun together, with no need for advanced swimming skills.
