Join us on Thursday 29th February, Midday - 1pm for the launch of our Senior Multi-Activity Session! It's completely free, equipment is provided and there's no need to book - just turn up!

We are launching a Senior multi-sport session, providing you with the opportunity to take part in short tennis, badminton, and table tennis at South Reading Leisure Centre. We are striving to provide a vibrant community hub for active adults to engage in friendly competition and social interaction.

Short tennis, a modified version of traditional tennis, offers seniors a chance to enjoy the sport with less physical strain. Played on a smaller court with softer balls and lighter rackets, it emphasises skill and precision over raw power, making it accessible to players of all ages and abilities. At the South Reading Leisure Centre, senior short tennis sessions are not just about the game but also about fostering camaraderie among participants.

Badminton is known for its fast-paced rallies and quick reflexes, badminton provides an excellent cardiovascular workout while also improving agility and coordination. Seniors gather to play doubles matches, honing their skills and building friendships along the way. The South Reading Leisure Centre also offers designated court times for senior badminton enthusiasts, ensuring they have ample opportunities to stay active and engaged.

Table tennis, with its rapid back-and-forth exchanges and precise ball control, appeals to seniors looking for a dynamic and mentally stimulating activity. Whether played recreationally or competitively, table tennis offers numerous health benefits, including improved hand-eye coordination and enhanced cognitive function.

Beyond the physical and mental benefits, our senior multi-activity session aims to provide invaluable opportunities for socialization and community building. Come along and meet like-minded people, through the shared love of sport; whilst proving that age is no barrier to staying active, healthy and engaged!
