The successful roll out of a major digital transformation programme within libraries across Bromley has been completed.  The initiative, which benefitted from £515,000 of investment from the London Borough of Bromley, was deployed by the Council’s libraries partner, charitable social enterprise GLL which provides library and leisure services under the 'Better' brand.

In total 175 brand new PCs were installed across 14 libraries within the borough and self-service kiosks were replaced with updated models.  New equipment was also introduced to enable libraries to provide coding and Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

A new library app was developed that allows library users to borrow and return items using their own devices.  While ‘Princh’ a new digital printing platform was installed across the borough libraries, meaning that anyone can now print documents either from the library’s PC or their phones. Tablets or laptops.  For younger visitors or those young at heart, lego robotics are also now available within all libraries.

Rebecca Gediking Head of Libraries for GLL added:   'We are delighted to have worked with the London Borough of Bromley to enhance the public libraries digital offer supporting community priorities now and allowing us to innovate and be at the forefront of technological developments to continue supporting library users in the future'.
