OFFER FOR CARERS FOR CARERS ACTIVE APRIL
Throughout April we are proud to be supporting Carers Active April. The main aim of the campaign by Carers UK is to support unpaid carers to be more physically active.
Research by the charity Carers UK shows how important being physically active is to carers, with 73% saying that being physically active makes them feel good about themselves and helps them to feel more connected to other people.
However, three quarters of unpaid carers (76%) are not able to do as much physical activity as they would like because of the pressures of their caring role. Many want to know how to build this into their busy lives.
The Carers Active campaign is funded by Sport England through the National Lottery. It is part of the ongoing Carers Active project which aims to make it easier for more of the UK’s estimated 5.7 million unpaid carers to be more physically active and feel the benefits of moving more. Unpaid carers can sign up to be a Carers Active member to receive updates about Carers Active April.
Membership Offer
In support of Active April, GLL has created a membership offer for members of Carers UK and anyone who is in receipt of Carer’s Allowance. This is the second year running GLL have supported the campaign. The promotion will run between 1st April-6th May and provide anytime access to a Better leisure facility at the discounted rate of £30 per month. This includes access to gym, swimming, fitness class classes and health suite. There are already a wide range of existing memberships available for people in receipt of Carer’s Allowance, including the Better Flex Adult Concessionary. For £5 a month you can enjoy one free activity a month (a choice of gym, swim or fitness class) and discount on additional bookings.
