April Staff Member of the Month - Ellie Grogan

All the staff here at Hatfield Swim Centre would like to congratulate Ellie Grogan, who has been voted April Staff Member of the Month by her fellow staff members.

Ellie started with us at the end of September 2022 as a Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard). As well as holding a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification for her primary job role here, she is also a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer. This shows that Ellie is no stranger to a leisure centre environment. We are proud to have Ellie as part of our team at the centre and feel her nomination is fully deserved.

Ellie’s employment journey, however, did not begin in Leisure. Before becoming a Lifeguard, Ellie could be seen making Sandwiches and brewing Coffee’s at Simmons Bakery in Welham Green. You could say she went from feeding people to saving people! Quite the step up.

Ellie is a graduate of Oakland’s College in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Here she studied Sports Science, Fitness and Personal Training. She also participated for the college Netball team of that year, as well as playing Netball for 9 years prior to starting at College. It is fair to say that Sport has played a huge part in Ellie’s life thus far.

Ellie also achieved a personal victory in the last month by passing her practical driving test. She had been working towards this for quite some time and everyone felt the relief for her when she was finally able to drive into work for the first time. No less than a week later, she was changing a tyre on her car which proves just how hands on she is, both inside and outside of work.

Congratulations once again Ellie. There are quite a few people who feel this is an overdue win for her and we are glad to finally award her for her efforts!
