SWIMATHON 12TH-14TH MAY 2023
The team here at Hatfield Swim Centre would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Swimathon event for charity. Whether you chose us as your swimming pool or anywhere else in the country, give yourselves a round of applause!
The Swimathon is in aid of Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. So far, Swimmers from 450 venues across the UK have raised over £700,000. Give yourself another round of applause. However, the crucial part does not stop there.
Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the world and will stay at the forefront of the global fight against cancer. Unfortunately, 1 in 2 of us will get Cancer. That means, with a worldwide population of 7.6 billion people, a staggering 3.8 billion people will get diagnosed with some form of Cancer during their lifetime.
Marie Curie
They are here for people with any terminal illness, and those close to them – from diagnosis to bereavement. Their nurses and healthcare assistants support families all across the UK. They campaign for structural change and fund vital research that improves end of life for everyone.
Swimathon gives you the option to complete your swim your way. Any distance in any time at any venue. Enquiries are already being taken for Swimathon 2024. You can register your interest for next year on the Swimathon website.
Over the course of the 3 days, participants including Brother and Sister Team Ellis & Eden Winward, completed up to a 5k swim for these 2 great causes. Ellis & Eden completed 5k a piece. A special round of applause for their efforts.
