The Welwyn Hatfield Community Fund had a busy end to 2023, as four new projects were awarded funding. This has taken the total amount of funding received by projects in the Welwyn Hatfield community to £317,097. The Craftroom, Templewood Primary School, Hatfield Judo Club and Culturewood are the latest recipients of support.

The Craftroom will be running new half term camps throughout 2024, creating more opportunities for children to benefit from a mix of physical activity and craft based activities, and receive a hot meal, throughout every school holiday.

Templewood School received a contribution towards installing new play equipment and activity zones to ensure children have the opportunity to be physically active on a daily basis.

Hatfield Judo Club are using their funding to contribute towards buying new mats, to safely carry out sessions, and be able to increase the amount of people who can attend the club.

Culturewood will be launching a new initiative, Woodcraft for Wellbeing, based on supporting long term mental health and wellbeing. The sessions aim to combat loneliness, improve mental health and enable people to make new friends and access greenspaces.

Again these are a diverse group of projects, benefitting different sections of the community. What they do have in common is the aim of increasing opportunities for physical activity, improving mental health and promoting wellbeing in our residents.

The Fund also ended the year with cheque presentations to Welwyn Wheelers and Herts Disability Sports Foundation, who both received funding for new equipment to be able to extend their offering of activities to the community.

In total 11 applications were successful in 2023, and support from the fund will continue into 2024. If you think your project or initiative could be suitable for funding please get in contact.

The Welwyn Hatfield Community fund is a local fund to support the development of new opportunities for physical activity, health and well-being in the borough.  Applications are welcomed from not for profit organisations such as clubs, community groups, youth groups, educational establishments as well as individuals who want to set up a new activity or initiative.
