Stanborough Park enjoyed a busy half term with lots of groups and families taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to enjoy the stunning autumn scenery around the park.

The staff at our Watersports centre, on the South Lake, welcomed lots of children to the three  RYA sailing courses that we ran during Half term. We also had several children that came along to our brand new  Intro to paddlesports courses; a great opportunity for children to spend a morning trying out a variety of new paddlesports; including Paddle board, Kayak and Canoeing.

Our Splashlands playground equipment remains open for fun and play all year round and October half term was no exception, with lots of children thoroughly enjoying our pirate themed play equipment throughout the week.

As well as the playpark and the watersports centre, our pedalos and rowing boats were open all week for families and groups to enjoy a final spin, this year, around the North lake; taking in the views and admiring the wide variety  of waterfowl that have chosen to make Stanborough their home.

The main event of Stanborough Park’s  Half term was the return of our much loved Halloween Xplorer. Stanborough Park, in association with Welwyn Hatfield Council, once again set the scene for our Halloween explorers by decorating the Splashlands area with some suitably spooky props and then invited the public along to the totally free Xplorer event, which ran from 22nd October to 31st October.

During the course of the week over  100 children, and their families, collected  their maps and answer sheets from the Splashlands kiosk and set off around the North side of the Park to find the Halloween themed markers. It was an amazing chance for the children to learn some simple orienteering skills whilst getting out in the fresh air and enjoying all the sights and sounds of a beautiful autumn day at the park. Watch out for our Snowman Search, coming Christmas 2022.

The Staff at Stanborough are now busy making plans for more watersports courses and fun events for younger children in 2023.
