Although Stanborough hosts a range of leisure activities such as a play park, splash pad, watersports lessons and courses, rowing boats & pedalos; it is also a calm place where many people come for relaxation and peaceful reflection.

Stanborough Park was an essential asset to the local area during the Pandemic; the park provided accessible open space for those who may not have had access to that during the lockdowns. The park was used by those who wished to exercise and keep fit or take time for themselves during a very difficult period of the country’s history. Our local fishermen were also able to enjoy the calming relaxation a day by the lakes offers.

The Stanborough Team and GLL would like to thank our working partners such as the Hertfordshire Health Walks scheme and the Herts Disability Sports Foundation for continuing to provide guided walks and activities for those with disabilities during the pandemic; when permitted by the Government guidelines.

In addition to helping with the physical and mental wellbeing of our users, Stanborough Park also welcomes all faiths and ethnicities to the park and we are proud to support local faith groups with their events and religious festivals throughout the year.

On several occasions Stanborough Park has been happy to host the Hindu Community with the placing of the biodegradable idol Ganesh into the lake as part of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Stanborough Park has also facilitated the use of The River Lea for the annual Hiroshima remembrance service, by way of paper boats being released down the river. The ceremony takes place on the 6th August each year to commemorate those that lost their lives in the Hiroshima bombing in 1945.

In recent times we were also honoured to welcome a local church for a baptism ceremony; over 50 members of the Church were on site to be baptised in the lake.

Stanborough Park Better look forward to continuing to support the whole community as we move forward into the 2023 season.
