Welwyn & Hatfield Better Partnership celebrated National Fitness Day on Wednesday 20th September 2023; with all our centres promoting the benefits of keeping fit, both for our physical wellbeing and for our mental health.

Gosling Sports Park held a selection of free fitness classes on the day, which included Strength & Conditioning, Cardio & Gym. In addition the staff had challenged each other, and the public, to see who could hold a wall sit the longest!

Stanborough Park promoted the benefits of keeping fit throughout the year by reminding the community of all the healthy activities that are available at the park, including a large selection of Watersports, including Paddleboard, Kayak, Sailing & Open Water Swimming sessions. Healthy walks around the park are encouraged for humans & their dogs! A "free to use" outdoor gym, next to Splashlands is available at any time of day, and for the little ones there's nothing better than enjoying the play equipment and splashpad to get them out in the fresh air.

Hatfield Swim Centre had a great turnout for their Bootcamp style Circuit training, which included a Battle Ropes Challenge, all run by their enthusiastic Fitness Instructor Manny Zapanta.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, when all gyms and fitness centres were forced to close, it became obvious what a massive impact that had on people’s physical & mental health, so we here at all our Better centres are only too pleased to be able to contribute to getting the nation back on track again by using National Fitness Day as an excellent vehicle for reminding people just how important your fitness is.

To summarise, although National Fitness Day is designated for one day of the year, we strongly believe that every day could be National Fitness Day, whether you choose a full workout or a brisk walk in the park, remember, “Your health is for life”.
