Improving Windrush Leisure Centre
Improving Windrush Leisure Centre
West Oxfordshire District Council and GLL are working hard to improve your leisure centre and over the coming years the Council will be investing £3.5m in leisure centres across West Oxfordshire. Our aim is to make sure facilities across West Oxfordshire are modern, clean, and great facilities for local people to enjoy.
At Windrush Leisure Centre the improvements will include:
· Installing solar panels and heat pumps to reduce the centres impact on the environment
· Refurbishing the toilets
· Redecorating around the centre
· Replacing ageing equipment
· Repairing parts of the roof
You can read more about the planned investments on the council website below:
Over this time there will be some disruption during works, but this will be kept to a minimum where at all possible. We will be keeping centre users updated through this webpage.
Current works – Replacing the boiler
The ageing gas boilers in the centre that heat the building and swimming pool are coming to end of life and require replacing. The Council is using a government grant to help fund the replacement of the boilers with air source heat pumps that will provide heat for the centre and reduce the centre’s carbon emissions. Work on the installation will start in September 2025 and we expect it to be completed by March 2026. During this period there may be some disruption to parking and access to certain parts of the centre, but we are working hard to minimise this disruption and will keep centre users informed.
