Activity Terms & Conditions

By making an activity booking, you agree to terms and conditions below for your chosen activity.

General Activity Rules

  1. Physical activity or exercise is undertaken at your own risk. If you have any concerns about your health or suitability for your chosen activity you should seek guidance from a doctor or relevant health professional before participating.
  2. Bookings are valid for the named person only, non-transferable and non-refundable once the purchasing process is complete.
  3. You must always register your attendance by scanning the QR code, barcode or membership card at the centre reception or entrance gates.
  4. If you fail to attend or cancel less than 4 hours prior to the start of your booking you may incur a charge and have your future booking rights blocked until this is paid off.
  5. Listen to our staff at all times and follow their instructions.
  6. There may be additional rules which apply to a particular facility displayed in the Centre or Venue which you will also be required to follow.

Adult and Junior Gym Sessions

  1. Only children aged between 9 and 15 years are permitted to attend Adult and Junior Gym sessions with an adult.
  2. As the parent / guardian, by booking you are confirming the following; I realise that the health of the child in my care is my responsibility and that exercise and or physical activity can carry its own risk. I confirm that, if I, or the child in my care, have any concerns about their health and/or their health status changes, I will seek guidance from their General Practitioner or other relevant health professional before they participate in any exercise and/or physical activity.
  3. Children must be accompanied by an adult and actively supervised at all times. It is the adult’s responsibility to ensure that the terms and conditions are adhered to at all times by you and the child.
  4. If you or the child are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.
  5. Children are not permitted to use free weights, resistance machines or the assisted chin dip machine during this session.
  6. Treadmills to be used at a maximum speed of 8km/h and maximum incline of 6.
  7. Rowing machine to be used on a maximum resistance of 5 and maximum RPM of 30.
  8. Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning materials.
  9. Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.

Athletics

  1. Children aged 8+ are permitted to attend but must be accompanied by a paying adult.
  2. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.
  3. UKA Coaches must pay for sessions and provide proof of a valid and up to date coaching card if coaching.

Badminton

  1. You will need to bring your own racquets and shuttlecocks although sometimes these may be available to hire or purchase.
  2. Play responsibly in accordance with the National Governing Body rules and guidance

Climbing Walls

  1. Competent preregistered climbers only, anyone not previously signed off as competent will be not be able to climb
  2. Do not use equipment that has been placed out of use
  3. Only liquid chalk is permitted (loose chalk not permitted)
  4. Please allow hands to dry before using the equipment
  5. Only one pair of Climbers per designated area

Clip 'n Climb

  1.  Late comers can not be accepted, due to missing the essential harnessing and safety briefing, even if you have seen it before
  2. Those new to climbing and inexperienced users are welcome
  3. Only harnesses provided by the centre may be used
  4. Some obstacles require the user to be at least 1.2m in height, this includes the vertical drop slide
  5. Some of the obstacles  require a helmet to be worn, which will be provided
  6. Minimum age is 4 years old, but they must have a waist of at least 54cm to fit the harness
  7. Under 8’s must be actively supervised by a parent or guardian in the climb area, to a ratio of 2 children per 1 supervising adult.
  8. Maximum of 1 person supervising per child
  9. Siblings/Family members who are not climbing, and other non climbers that are not directly supervising, are permitted in the climb area
  10. No children under the age of 4 are permitted in the climb area
  11. Trainers only, no barefoot, shoes, boots, clogs or sandals
  12. No loose clothing such as hoodies, skirts, or anything that may get caught on a climb hold
  13. No Jewellery such as watches, necklaces, dangly earrings, or anything that might get snagged on a climb hold
  14. Long hair must be appropriately tied back
  15. No eating or drinking in the climb area is permitted

Fitness Class

  1. Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning materials.
  2. Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.
  3. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.

Golf

  1. Play responsibly in accordance with the National Governing Body rules and guidance

Gym

  1. Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning materials.
  2. Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.
  3. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.
  4. No private coaching allowed.

Ice Skating

  1. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a competent adult skater.
  2. Trousers or close-fitting clothing fully covering both legs must be worn.
  3. Warm clothing with long sleeves is recommended to keep you warm.
  4. Lockers are available to store personal items – remember to bring change, our centres and venues are all cashless.
  5. Public skating sessions are available to customers of all abilities.
  6. Training ice is only available to those with a training ice membership or a private lesson booked with an ice coach.

Induction, Re-focus and Final Assessment

  1. You will need to make a note of any exercises which are prescribed to yourself as staff will not be able to hand over any written documentation.
  2. Height, weight and blood pressure will not be taken during the induction or re-focus session.
  3. Do not spend more than 15 minutes at any station.
  4. Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning materials.
  5. Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.
  6. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.

Junior Gym

  1. Junior gym is restricted to members above 11 years and under 16 years of age.
  2. At the start of your Junior Gym Session you must report to the Fitness Instructor or another member of staff for a safety briefing.
  3. Before participating in Junior Gym you must complete one of our Junior Gym Induction classes.
  4. If you are unfamiliar with how to operate any equipment then always ask for safety advice from a member of staff.
  5. Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the provided cleaning materials.
  6. Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.
  7. Free weights or Assisted Chin Dip machines must not be used.
  8. Fixed resistance machines to be used on the first weight only.
  9. Treadmills to be used at a maximum speed of 8km/h and maximum incline of 6.
  10. Rowing machine to be used on a maximum resistance of 5 and maximum RPM of 30.
  11. No private coaching allowed.

Leisure Pool

  1. Under 8's and non swimmers under 16 must be accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer
  2. No more than two under 8's or non swimmers under 16 to each competent adult swimmer
  3. The competent adult swimmer must actively supervise under 8's and non swimmers under 16.
  4. Under 8's and all non swimmers must remain in shallow water.
  5. We strongly recommend under 8's and non swimmers use armbands and/or an appropriate buoyancy aid
  6. Swim testing by lifeguards may be implemented to check the ability of swimmers before they are allowed into the deep end of the main pool. This will be at the discretion of the lifeguard on position.
  7. Please adhere to the poolside rules otherwise you maybe asked to leave.

Open Water Swimming

Waiver of Liability:

  1. I am aware that I will be swimming at my own risk in open water in a wild environment and I am aware of all the risks and dangers associated with this activity and the potential for serious injury or death.
  2. I am a competent Swimmer with experience in Open Water Swimming
  3. I am physically fit and I have no pre-existing medical conditions that may affect my ability to swim in open water. [If you are unsure you should consult your GP before swimming.]
  4. All swimmers with a medical history of seizures are to swim with a ‘swim tow-float’.
  5. Please help us by following the rules, routes, signage and by keeping to your allocated time.

General Terms & Conditions for Open Water Swimming:

  1. The minimum age for swimmers is 14 years old. Children aged 14-16 must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian and swim with a ‘tow-float’ whilst attending the swimming sessions.
  2. The safety team reserve the right at any time to refuse entry into the water of any swimmer who is deemed unfit to take part.
  3. Session dates are available to book 7 days in advance from 6pm for members and 5 days in advance for non-members
  4. Bookings are valid for the named person only, non transferable and non-refundable once the purchasing process is complete.
  5. Customers cannot book more than 1 session per day [to be fair to all other users]
  6. Sessions are in 1 hour slots - this includes your swim and ‘get in and get out’.
  7. Duration in the water is for a maximum of 50 minutes but you can exit the water at any point during this time
  8. No entry will be permitted to swimmers who turn up 10 minutes after their booked time slot
  9. All swimmers MUST either wear a wet suit or use a tow float
  10. No spectators are permitted
  11. No pets are allowed into the facility
  12. All adult swimmers must wear a red swimming hat whilst attending the swimming sessions. Junior swimmers (14 – 16 years old) must wear a green swimming hat. Swimming hats are available to purchase at the centre.
  13. Any advice and instructions given by the safety team must be followed at all times.
  14. Whilst extremely unlikely, swimming will not be permitted if the water quality falls below the recommended EEC levels for bathing.
  15. In the event of adverse weather conditions, customers will be evacuated from the water and asked to leave. All sessions will be cancelled from the time of the thunder / lighting, until 30 minutes after the last strike. Swimmers will be issued with a credit if they are unable to complete their session by more than 20 minutes.

Paddle boarding

  1. The minimum age for participants is 8 years old. Unless stated on the session title.
  2. The Instructor team reserve the right at any time to refuse entry into the water of any participant who is deemed unfit to take part.
  3. Bookings cannot be cancelled or changed, transferred or refunded.
  4. Customers cannot book more than 1 session per day.
  5. All participants MUST wear a buoyancy aid and foot wear that can get wet.
  6. Any advice and instructions given by the Instructor team must be followed at all times.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, customers will be evacuated from the water and asked to leave. All sessions will be cancelled from the time of the adverse weather, until 30 minutes after the last strike. Participants will be issued with a credit if they are unable to complete their session by more than 20 minutes

Spa Treatments

  1. We ask that you pay online at point of booking, or via card for retail items. Any retail items purchased on the day will be via card payment only.
  2. You will be escorted to your treatment room by your therapist on arrival, to avoid congestion in the reception areas.
  3. Contact us and re-arrange your appointment, if you have a temperature, or are feeling unwell.

Squash

  1. You will need to bring your own racquets and shuttlecocks although sometimes these may be available to hire or purchase.
  2. Play responsibly in accordance with the National Governing Body rules and guidance.

Surf

  1. I or anyone I have purchased a ticket for will not hold the management, directors, staff or volunteers of Better responsible for any accidents; injury; loss or damage whilst on the premises.
  2. I engage in activities at my own risk.
  3. I hereby agree to accept full responsibility for myself and/or anyone in my booking and consent for anyone under the age of 16 that I purchase a ticket for (if applicable) during participation on Surf Belfast.
  4. I give my permission for medical assistance to be administered in the case of an accident or emergency to myself or anybody that I have purchased a ticket for.
  5. Surf Belfast activities are not recommended for persons who have heart, back or neck conditions, or people who are pregnant. If you suffer from any health problems, illness or may be pregnant please consult your doctor for medical advice before visiting any Better facilities.
  6. The online booking facility for each public session will close 30 minutes before the start of that session.
  7. There is a "no re admittance" policy in operation for Surf Belfast. Online booking vouchers are valid for a single entry only.
  8. Every person participating must have a valid admission ticket for that session.
  9. All bookings are valid only for the person named on the booking voucher. Booking vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable once the online purchasing process is completed.
  10. Customers are required to adhere to Surf Belfast rules and regulations on display. Failure to do so may result in entry being refused. The refusal of entry is in any case entirely at the discretion of GLL.
  11. Centre programming (and thus the provision of public sessions) is subject to change and availability from time to time.
  12. Riders must be a minimum of 4ft (1.2m) in height to participate.
  13. Be mindful and considerate of other riders.
  14. No food or drinks are permitted in the activity area.
  15. Do not stand on the matting at the back of the ride at any time.
  16. Only 1 rider is allowed on the ride at any one time.
  17. Do not enter the ride area until instructed to do so by the ride attendant.
  18. Riders must wear a t-shirt or rash vest at all times.
  19. No wrestling, tackling or horseplay is permitted on the ride.
  20. Do not operate mobile phones, cameras, or similar equipment.
  21. Please wear appropriate clothing; no buckles or studs and we advise you to remove all jewellery.
  22. Remove objects from your pockets before riding.
  23. Listen to our staff at all times and follow instruction.
  24. Come ‘Surf ready’ if you can, including showering before you set off if possible.

Swimming

  1. Respect lane discipline and other swimmers, there may be mixed abilities.
  2. Competent swimmers of club standard over the age of 11 are allowed to book ‘Swim for Fitness’. Swimmers must demonstrate overt competency.
  3. Outdoor Pools Only – in the event of adverse weather conditions, customers will be evacuated from the water and asked to leave. All sessions will be cancelled from the time of the thunder / lighting, until 30 minutes after the last strike. Swimmers will be issued with a credit if they are unable to complete their session by more than 20 minutes.

Thermal Spa / Health Suite

  1. It may not be advisable to use thermal experience facilities for some medical conditions or during pregnancy. If in doubt, please seek medical advice
  2. Keep hydrated, water can be brought into the spa or purchased at spa reception before entering
  3. No shaving or exfoliating
  4. No hair dyes or oils permitted
  5. No food or glass bottles
  6. Over 16 years only are permitted
  7. Loungers may not be reserved; no items are to be left on loungers that are not in use
  8. Bathing suits must be worn at all times

Trampoline Park

  1. All bookings are one hour in length, which includes 15 minute briefing.
  2. Juniors will require supervision inline with the following ratios :-

Under 5’s - 2:1 (Family session only).

Under 5’s - 1:1 (General Sessions).

5-7 years - 4:1

  1. Only one spectator per paying junior (8-15 Years old.).
  2. You must wear Better trampoline socks when jumping. 5p of every sock purchase is donated to the GLL Sports Foundation Charity.
  3. All attendees will be asked to wear a coloured wrist band to identify your allocated session
  4. Not all features will be open for your safety.
  5. On the park maintaining social distancing during session, and please vacate the park when your session comes to an end.
  6. Be mindful and considerate of other jumpers. Do not distract or interrupt others whilst jumping.
  7. No food or drink in the activity area. Sports style water bottles are allowed.
  8. No lying down or sitting on trampolines.
  9. Do not grab any safety pads or safety netting.
  10. Do not jump or land on the coloured padding.
  11. Only single flips are permitted. Flips across pads or bed to bed are not allowed.
  12. No double bouncing (bouncing someone else higher).
  13. Only one jumper on each trampoline at a time.
  14. Always land on two feet or your seat.
  15. No wrestling, racing, tackling or horseplay.
  16. Do not operate mobile phones, cameras, or similar equipment on trampolines.
  17. Please wear appropriate clothing; no buckles or studs and we advise you to remove all jewellery. Remove objects from your pockets before jumping.
  18. Please be aware that during certain public sessions part of the trampoline park may have restricted access and/or disco lighting and music may be used.
  19. The maximum weight permitted for the trampoline park is 21 Stone/133kg. Please note that some features have a lower weight limit and this restriction is highlighted on the entry to the feature.
