Thank you to those that joined us for our “Have a Coffee Morning” for Action for Children Charity
On Wednesday 31t August we hosted a “Have a Coffee Morning” in support of our member Fatima Whitbread MBE fundraising efforts for the Action for Children charity ‘There is a Star in Every Child’ campaign.
Action for Children (formerly National Children’s Home) is a UK children’s charity created to help vulnerable children and young people and their families in the UK by providing practical and emotional care and support. Their foster, adoptive and modern residential services find children and young people safe and loving homes, as well as stepping in to protect children from neglect and abuse and help those who care for others or are at risk of homelessness. Today, Action for Children run 512 services in local communities across the UK in schools and online. For every £1 the charity spends, 87p helps children and families.
Between her busy schedule Fatima popped down to meet her fellow members, sharing images and stories from her Gran Pasradiso climb for this great cause. The Gran Paradiso Summit climb in Italy, is breath taking but as well as being that, it is not any mean feat. Spending a week training and climbing the mountains without any previous experience Fatima told how she enjoyed the challenge and was excited to support a special cause so close to her heart.
During our fundraising morning, members were welcome to enjoy a tea, coffee or sweet treat for a small donation to the charity. With the generosity of ours members we have raised £67.88 so far.
