This year's open weekend is approaching- we are excited to share the sessions we will be running on the 19th-20th July.

We offer a range of different ice activities at our centre all year round. Whether you already skate and are looking for new activities or clubs to join, or you are a beginner and are curious of what we have to offer, come down to our open weekend and give it a go.

Fitness Taster Class

Our 45 minute fitness taster class will be focussed on cardio and strength work. We are excited to announce that we will be running fitness classes in the near future. Our taster fitness class is a great way to get involved and try out a new activity that will be available in centre soon.

Public Skating sessions

Whether you have skated before or wish to give it a go, our public skating sessions are a great way to try out ice skating whilst having fun with friends or family. Our public skating sessions are 1 hour each. They are suitable for all abilities and for everyone aged 3 and above. We have hire skates in sizes Junior UK 7 to adult UK 15.

We have skating aids available. These are not included in the open day ticket and cost £6 for the session. They are available on a first come first serve basis.

Ice Hockey Game

We have an Ice Hockey game running from 18:45-20:45 on Saturday 19th July. If you are interested in ice hockey, or are just looking for a fun activity to enjoy on a Saturday night, watching an ice hockey game with our home team, the Narwhals is a great way to spend your evening. The game is free to spectate.

How to Book:

Sessions can be booked via the website or app. The open day public skating sessions will appear under the public skating tab, and the fitness taster class will appear under the Ice sessions tab.

What do I need to bring?

Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing. We recommend to bring gloves and an extra layer for our public skating sessions.

What if I have a health condition?

Please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions prior to activity.

What if I have never been before?

If you're new to any of the activities or unsure about using certain equipment, feel free to ask one of our staff members. We’re here to guide you. If you’re taking part in any physical activities today, please ensure you’ve warmed up first. If you need guidance, our Ice Assistants are here to help.

Do I have to be a member?

No, our open day sessions are open to everyone. Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online at https://bookings.better.org.uk/register, then simply booking an available open day activity.

As part of the registration process, customers must agree to the activity terms and conditions, which include a signed waiver granting access into the centre.

What other activities do you offer outside of the open weekend sessions?

Our schedule is packed with a range of sessions, from fun social activities to elite training:

- Coffee skate sessions are a 1 hour lesson followed by a hot drink in our cafe. These sessions provide a positive and inclusive space to improve your skating and meet new people.

- We offer a Learn to Skate programme to help you become a better skater. The programme works through the nationally recognised British Ice Skating syllabus.

- Patch Ice sessions are for advanced figure skaters to individually practice their techniques.

- Curling sessions run weekly via the Cambridge Curling club. The sessions are great for learning new skills and meeting new people. Curling is also popular for parties and corporate team building events.

- Ice hockey training sessions are run via our home teams. They host games regularly at the rink and they are all free to spectate (except for our league team).
