Warm Spaces, Warm Welcomes At Parkside Pools and Gym

On 1 December, Parkside Pools and Gym opened its doors as a designated Warm Space, part of a national initiative led by GLL.

The Warm Space has been created in direct response to the cost of living crisis, offering vital support to those who are struggling to keep their homes heated or who may otherwise be without a safe, warm environment this winter. Open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, the centre provides a welcoming refuge where residents in need can find warmth, comfortable seating, free WiFi and charging points for devices.

Thanks to the generous support of Cambridge Catering Solutions, visitors will also be offered a complimentary hot drink. Staff will be on hand throughout the day to ensure everyone feels safe, respected and supported.

The Warm Spaces, Warm Welcomes sessions are part of a wider community effort to provide accessible, comforting places for those facing hardship. Leisure centres are ideally suited to play this role, they are familiar, centrally located and trusted by the community.

This initiative reflects GLL’s commitment to social value and community wellbeing, working in partnership with Cambridge City Council and local organisations to make a tangible difference during the most challenging months of the year.
