On Friday 16th June 2023, our lovely ‘Oasis Swim Group’ are challenging themselves to swim 22 miles which is the length of the English Channel (1,200 lengths) to raise money for the fantastic London’s Air Ambulance, a vital resource for our city. Last year the group raised £3.5k and they are hoping to match the same this year!

LONDON’S AIR AMBULANCE IS A CHARITY

When London calls, our team are there to reach those urgently in need of life-saving care. Our vision is to end preventable deaths in London from life-threatening injury. Our mission is to save more lives in London through rapid response and cutting-edge care. We are a charity that works alongside the NHS and our life-saving service is made possible by you; our supporters.

WHERE DOES OUR FUNDING COME FROM?

In 2020/21 we raised almost £14 million (consolidated income) from our supporters and partners. It was a challenging time, but we managed to sustain our income from the previous year. Our expenditure was reduced as, due to the pandemic, we were unable to carry out our planned fundraising activities, leading to a large reduction (93%) in events income with our annual gala postponed and lottery lines beginning to reduce. Trusts and Foundations offered us great support though (up 89% on the previous year) to help us through the pandemic.

Donations help save more lives by keeping the helicopters in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most. By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.

Meghna, General Manager said "Head lead on the event Joy Murray has done yet again another fantastic job in organising the charity swim amongst the community of customers here at Oasis Sports Centre and attempting to raise money for a very well worth charity to help save lives. Good luck to all swimming on the day and thank you for being so wonderful"
