At Waterfront Leisure Centre there’s a load of activities for juniors to take part in. From junior gym to sports hall multi games and swimming there’s plenty to keep busy and entertained.

Our junior sessions are 4pm-6pm Monday to Friday. Junior customers are able to take advantage of all of the following activities listed below.

Junior Gym

Junior Gym sessions are when we allow children 11-17 years old in the main gym under the supervision of a Fitness Instructor.

We have to limit the numbers of juniors so this activity requires pre booking on the Better UK App or website and for Better Health Junior members this can be done up to 7 days in advance. The cost for non-members is £4 (£3.80 concession) and bookings can be made 5 days prior to attending.

Junior Fitness Classes

In your prefer to work out with other then why not try our fitness classes. Our Junior customers are able to access our brand new functional fitness area and take part in challenging classes designed by our fitness instructors. Each class will be tailored to a customers fitness and ability levels and are designed to use a whole range of functional equipment and body weights exercises.

Swim for All Sessions

If you want to dive straight in our weekday swim for all sessions take place in our Leisure Pool and give customers access to waves, a waterfall, lazy river and much more.

Junior Gym Inductions

The safety of all our junior members is extremely important to us here at the Waterfront Centre. 

We provide a junior gym induction led by a qualified fitness instructors, who will show them how to properly use the equipment and perform exercises. 

These inductions are important to building confidence of our junior members when they are using the gym. 

All junior members must book an induction prior to their first junior gym session.

Junior gym rules

Juniors will have access to majority of the equipment. 

Cardio Machines - Treadmills, cross trainers, upright bikes, spin bikes and rowing machines

Resistance Machines* - Chest press, lateral row, cables pulleys, leg press, hip adductor, hip abductor, lateral pulldown, shoulder press, leg extension and leg curl

Functional area - Small free weights, plyo boxes, slam balls, kettlebells, steps, boxing bags and skipping ropes

Juniors are not permitted to use the strength gym 

*Juniors are required to use the lightest weight plate when using the resistance machines, as well as under 10kg dumbells
