On Wednesday the 24th August, The Football Foundation picked Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub to host a meeting with Gareth Southgate- England’s Men’s national football manager , The Premier League and The FA to announce a charity plan to commit 40% of its investment by the year 2025. This commitment is expected to be worth around £92 million which will be invested into multi sports projects all around the country. Not only were they joined by Gareth they were also joined by England’s Rugby Union head coach Eddie Jones, captain of the woman’s cricket team, Heather Knight. England’s rugby league head coaches for the men and woman teams, Shaun Wane and Craig Richards.

On their visit to Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub they were keen to join in with some multi sports activities which Brentford football club community sports trust were hosting on the artificial pitches. They lead on some football, rugby and cricket activities and spent some time speaking to the young participants about their sporting aspirations. The pitches at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub were lucky to receive funding from the football foundation which now caters to many local clubs and teams across the community giving everyone an opportunity to take part in sport.

Whilst at the sports hub they also launched a new app called PitchPower which is a grass inspection app which can be used for football, rugby and cricket. Once an inspection is submitted, grass pitch experts at the Grounds Management Association produce an assessment report with bespoke advice and recommendations to improve the grass pitch quality at a site. The app is free to use and gives the ability to carry out sport specific inspections on grass pitches.
