Brentford Football Community Trust organised and ran a football tournament on Gunnersbury Park Sports Hubs artificial pitches last week for young female participants in line with the UEFA Woman’s Euros taking place throughout the month of July.

The day brought over 200 participants to Gunnersbury Park from both local schools, German schools and from teams from Denmark. The Teams then went on to watch the Woman’s UEFA Euro Germany V Denmark game at the Brentford Community Stadium later that day where they saw Germany win 4-0.

The Mascots for the UEFA Womans Euros Kai, Robyn and Ashley even came along to watch some of the games and take some photos with the girls.

The day was a great success and the sun was shining with around 30 teams attending. The day was filled with back to back matches and the final was played between Richmond Park Academy and Waldegrave School with Waldegrave School winning 1-0.

Players from the woman’s Brentford team were the special guest appearances of the day watching the young talent and giving advice to the next generation of woman footballers. There were also some scouts from the FA Discover My talent programme in attendance.

Brentford Community Trust are involved in talent inclusion programmes which ensures that through the existing community activities, female participants can be identified and referred to the FA England Women’s Talent Pathway. For girls showing potential, the programme creates a pathway from community to full England honours

Well done to all the young female talented players that took part in the day.
