Recruitment Day
Early in the month Phoenix Fitness Centre organised and hosted a recruitment day working with the Shaw Trust and Ingeus to make sure as many potential candidates attended as possible. This recruitment day was a huge success where the interested parties were given a presentation explaining about GLL and how it benefits the local community, as well as the roles that are available. They were also given a tour of the facilities at Phoenix and told about vacancies within the centre, the partnership and other local GLL venues. On the day the candidates were initially interviewed by a member of the Phoenix staff and those that were interested in recreational assistant roles had the opportunity to do a swim test. There were 30 people who attended the event with a number invited back for second interviews for roles such as recreation assistant and fitness instructor. It was felt that the day was a success and we will look to work with the Shaw Trust and Ingeus again to showcase our centres and the roles that are available in them. Positions were offered to candidates that came to the recruitment day at a couple of our centres, again which is very pleasing.
As the UK’s largest leisure provider there are always a number of roles and positions across our 300 centres that are looking to be filled. GLL has many different roles from administration, customer facing positions, recreation assistants, swimming teachers, catering staff and sports coaches all over the country. For the right candidate training might be offered allowing individuals to gain National Governing Body Awards and be able to use them in the work place. To help make positions available for a whole range of people we offer part time and flexible working options.
