The HEAT is on at Hillingdon Lido
Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex is pleased to announce that Hillingdon Lido, formerly known as Uxbridge Lido, will no longer be a cold-water swimming pool this Summer.
The 50m lido has always been unheated and been without development for over 11 years. The outdoor pool is therefore predominately only used by the hardcode open water cold swimmers and the occasional ‘everyday’ swimmer.
Working in partnership with Hillingdon Council (who are investing £370,000 into the project), we are currently working hard to install a heating system so members and the local community can enjoy a cosy 23 degree swim, all year round from the end of July 2021. The project will also include new pool covers being installed, that will act as a heat retainer and will keeping the pool clean. New lighting will also be included around the lido, allowing our pool programme to run during the darker winter early mornings and evenings.
This new investment will also help the Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex to offer a more diverse swimming program, that will include more family sessions and to encourage the local community to take full advantage of the Lido, whatever the weather. We will also have refreshments available for customers to take advantage of during the Summer month.
Our sessions will therefore be delivered all year round! From Monday 26th July you will be able to enjoy our Outdoor Lido between 7am till 7pm weekdays and 8am till 5pm at weekends, with different sessions to suit everyone. With the water temperature set at 23 degrees
We’ve broken down each session below to help you decide which session to book.
Swim for Fitness
This session is held in the Main Pool and our Outdoor Lido. This session is aimed at competent swimmers aged 11+ years and over (11 – 15 years should be of club swimming standard). Please be advised our water depth varies throughout some sessions.
Swim for All
This session is a general swim & is held in both indoor pools and outdoor Lido. Its aimed at all ages and abilities for fun and fitness.
Please note all sessions must be pre-booked online or via the Better UK app. Simply set Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex as your home club, and selecting Book Swimming.
