At Forest Hill Pools we regularly hold events for our customers and local community. We wanted to share some of our recent events and encourage you to attend in the future. Below are some of our highlights from the year so far.

On international women’s day held an event highlighting the importance of the day, equality, women in history along with information and guidance on women’s health. The colour theme was purple and green, the purple was for international women’s day and the green represented the feminist movement. Our duty manager Djei made cupcakes and other sweet treats along with affirmation cards for our female customers and Staff. The day catered for all including our younger audience, colouring female leaders / celebrities

Green and Purple candy floss was available for Children to enjoy

Along came April and we put on a pop up Easter eggstravaganza event aimed at children. This featured a bunny mask painting station while everyone was arriving and then a series of organised games were played such as freeze dance, balloon popping surprise, pin the tail on the rabbit and Easter egg hunting around the centre! The atmosphere was full of joy and fun with refreshment breaks included, candyfloss and cupcakes were prepared and given out too.

Shortly after our Easter event we were approached by a customer asking if we could promote World Parkinson’s Awareness Day and on the 11th April we were happy to help. We put up poems written by people with Parkinson’s & displayed informative posters. In the gym we hosted the Stand and Sit Challenge which is an exercise recommended for people with Parkinson’s to help with mobility.

In May we took part and hosted our annual Swimathon event,  Swimathon is the largest swimming fundraiser and raises money for charities. Isham our duty manager and swim teacher organised and entered a Forest Hill Pools club for our customers, we offered free Swim Doctor Train sessions to help those get ready for their big swim! Several of our adult swimmers had trained for the event since December, some of which had never done long distance swimming and the majority achieved a distance of 5K. Our Swim Doctor Train programme has seen our adult students develop into well trained swimmers and boosted their confidence and ability massively.
