Glass Mill Leisure Centre is home to Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers Hub
The team at Glass Mill Leisure Centre are proud to be providing the current home for Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers Hub for the London Borough of Lewisham.
Imago have been appointed by the London Borough of Lewisham’s Adult Social Care Team to run the Unpaid Carers provision across the borough. Imago are delivering the Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers, supporting Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers across the borough of Lewisham with their base being at Glass Mill Leisure Centre in central Lewisham. If you are an unpaid carer or know someone who provides care but is not getting paid, help and support is available.
Imago also provide weekly support sessions at Forest Hill Pools; these take place every Tuesday between 10am and 12 noon. As well providing the hub service at Glass Mill Leisure Centre, Imago also run fortnightly support sessions every Wednesday between 1.30 and 3.30pm. They will also be running monthly support sessions for people who need advice and help around areas such as will writing.
How do I know if I'm an unpaid carer?
An unpaid carer is an individual who provides care and support for someone in their network of family and friends who may be elderly, disabled, or suffering from physical or mental illness or addiction. The role of a carer may encompass diverse responsibilities, such as personal care, domestic chores, emotional support, shopping, and managing appointments and finances. Caring is often a selfless and rewarding experience that can entail significant personal sacrifice. Providing care can be challenging and complex, requiring compassion, patience, and resilience. This includes children who may have assumed the responsibility of caring for their parents, siblings, and other family members.
What support will Imago provide?
The Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers Service is designed to offer comprehensive and tailored support to unpaid carers. Imago’s team will work with individuals to create a personalised Adult Carer Support Plan that focuses on your specific needs. If the carer's plan meets the local eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to receive support to meet those needs through a Statutory Carers Assessment. Even if the eligibility criteria are unmet, Imago’s service can still offer carers support and assistance.
