Peter May Sports Centre to Host National Open Weekend full of fun and fitness

The Peter May Sports Centre is gearing up to welcome the community for a thrilling National Open Weekend on 19th and 20th July, promising two days packed with energy, excitement, and togetherness.

Aimed at promoting active lifestyles and strengthening local connections, the event will feature a wide variety of family-friendly and competitive activities sure to “get hearts racing and faces smiling.”

One of the main attractions on Saturday will be the free-entry badminton tournament, which kicks off at 10am sharp. Open to players of all skill levels, the tournament promises two hours of fast-paced, thrilling match play. The champion will not only claim a prize but also enjoy the ultimate reward — community bragging rights. Bring your racquet - everything else will be provided on the day!

Adding to the weekend’s appeal are the adult and junior table tennis tournaments, designed to engage all age groups and encourage some healthy, light-hearted competition among families. Whether you're a seasoned player or a first-time participant, there’s something for everyone.

How to book?

If you are a non-member: 

Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online at https://bookings.better.org.uk/register, then simply booking an available open day activity. As part of the registration process, customers must agree to the activity terms and conditions, which include a signed waiver granting access into the centre.

What do I need to bring?   

Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for all classes and activities; all equipment is provided. Please make sure you bring a towel and water with you. 
   
What if I have a health condition?  

Please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions prior to activity.   
 
What if I have never been before?   

If you're new to any of the activities or unsure about using certain equipment, feel free to ask one of our staff members. We’re here to guide you. If you’re using the gym or taking part in any physical activities today, please ensure you’ve warmed up first. If you need guidance, our fitness instructors are here to help.
