Everyone is invited to the Winter Open Weekend on the 22nd and 23rd November 2025. We want members to use the opportunity to try a new activity or bring a friend and we are trying to reach out to people in Waltham Forest who have not experienced the Better centres. This special event offers the perfect opportunity for residents to explore the wide range of services and programmes available, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for all ages.     

There are 11 centres that Better operate across Waltham Forest, so we very much want to engage the local community. For information on the Lee Valley sites, Better Gym Waltham Forest Stadium and Peter May Sports Centre consult their local website. 

There is a range of free activities including gym, group exercise, social sports, and health checks for individuals who may have not done much exercise in recent times.  

We welcome everyone who has booked on for free but please only take part in activities if you consider yourself healthy enough to do so. Additionally, please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions which may impact your safety prior to activity.

How do you book?

Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online at https://bookings.better.org.uk/register, then simply booking an available open day activity. As part of the registration process, customers must agree to the activity terms and conditions, which include a signed waiver granting access into the centre.   

To book our open day activities please visit the Open Weekend Tab when booking and select the date you would like to attend.  

How to book 

If you already have an account: You can simply sign in and book activities. 

If you're not a Better member or do not have an account: You'll need to sign up for a free account so that you can book any of the activities available during the open weekend. Register a free acount here https://bookings.better.org.uk/register 

Booking your open weekend activity online: 

  • Log in via our customer portal. Once logged on, follow these steps: 
  • Click the "Book Activity" button. 
  • Select a local leisure centre by entering your postcode or choosing from the list. 
  • Choose the category 'Other Activities' and tap 'Open Weekend'. 
  • Scroll to 22nd or 23rd November, and find an open weekend activity that interests you. 
  • Click "Book", accept the T&Cs, and confirm the booking. 

You can also book activities through the Better UK app after setting up your new, free booking account or if you have any active membership: 

  • Tap the menu at the top-left and select "My Clubs." 
  • Tap the plus button and choose a leisure centre. 
  • Choose the category 'Other Activities' and tap 'Open Weekend'. 
  • Scroll to the 22nd or 23rd November, and find an open weekend activity that interests you. 
  • Click "Book" and follow the steps to confirm. 

What do I need to bring?     

Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for all classes and activities; all equipment is provided. Please make sure you bring a towel and water with you.   
     
What if I have a health condition?   

Please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions prior to activity.     

What if I have never been before?    

If you're new to any of the activities or unsure about using certain equipment, feel free to ask one of our staff members. We’re here to guide you. If you’re using the gym or taking part in any physical activities today, please ensure you’ve warmed up first. If you need guidance, our fitness instructors are here to help.
