We ran our first all-inclusive aquathlon at the leisure centre and it was a great success.

Students from George Hastwell School in Walney and Sandside in Ulverston took part in the event Friday 28th June.

It consisted of a swim and run around the cricket pitch (similar to a triathlon but without the cycling) and all students that took part received a medal.

It was purely a participation event, no one was timed but there was still a healthy level of competition between some children.

The main focus of this event was for the students to take part in some physical activity, try something they haven’t tried before, have fun and gain some sense of achievement when crossing this finish line. The beauty of it being none competitive meant that each individual whatever their ability and however long it took them, would feel like a winner when they crossed the line.
