National Fitness Day

The BIGGEST Leg Day Challenge came to Walsall Wood Better Gym as we set the club a target for National Fitness Day 2021 to achieve 22,921 squats by the end of play, to match the date of 22/9/21.

During the morning, Maxine pulled in some great numbers by incorporating squats into her HIIT class workouts. Utilising that group leg power again in Group Cycle with yet more squats to warm up the members legs ready to pedal through Group Cycle & once more during Power Pump with calculated & choreographed squat tracks.

All staff took part even our cleaner Kelly put down Henry the hoover, jumped on the podium & did her bit mid-shift. Kools set his alarm for every 30 minutes to keep the count going & with Luke, they wrangled as many members as they could walking in to the club to take part.

By midday we were off to a flying start with over 14,000 in the bag thanks to Maxine & the classes. By the evening it was getting down to the wire with just over 6,000 to hit the target, where we once again turned to the power of group squatting & recruited the evening classes with instructor Kayleigh warming up yet another Group Cycle class, where they achieved 609 squats in just 30 seconds to warm up those legs.

This left the club with just 1,672 squats to be exact, a target which they had only 1 hour 15 minutes of the day to achieve. So in true Kools fashion, he ran around the remaining members in those precious countdown moments & managed to bring it home finishing the day on 22,953.

National Fitness Day is a chance to highlight the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping to raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier lifestyles through being physically active.
