On Sunday the 3rd of September we had our first Comic Con event at Hatfield Leisure Centre! Working in partnership with Striking Events LTD.

Once the event was published via social media channels we had over 300 + comments and 200 shares creating lots of anticipation and excitement.

The event pre-sold 600 tickets before the doors had even opened with another expected 600 visits on the day, in turn we had over 1,000 visitors to the Comic Con & Toy Fair.

The event consisted of 1 entry fee that would enable you to participate in the below activities at no extra fee, something in which Striking’s Event LTD pride themselves on.

Costume Contest (Adult & Child)

Face painting

Jedi Fight Academy (Andrew the trainer was the stand-in double for Qui Gon Jin In Star Wars)

Dark Knight - Batmobile

The day ran in such a way allowing for a quiet time access before it got too busy before general access were coming through to look at the various stands and vendors, there was also costume competitions both adult and child ones that ran with many people taking part as well as several photo shoots. The Jedi training teaching you the art of using a lightsabre so that you would be able to fight your foe was hugely popular. The most popular events occurring being the Batmobile parked in the carpark allowing you to have a prime photo opportunity with it even showcasing some of its more unique abilities.

There was also food available in the carpark, burgers and hotdogs were a huge hit from  Barry’s and Jojo’s catering as well as ice cream available from the ice cream van, which made for the perfect cooling snack on a very hot day.

The event includes vendors of different types with an interest in comics or their brands which can then affect what they sell, meaning you can have people who sell prints to people who are selling action figures, to comics, to lights and toys and so much more.

It was a very busy day with lots of people and lots of fantastic costumes being worn by all ages, making it a difficult decision to decide who would win the costume competition that took place.

Overall the event ran really well with lots of comments on Facebook & throughout the event, complementing the event and how much fun they had and how well the event was organised. Striking events was also pleased with how it went and were thrilled to say they had over 1000 attendees throughout the day as well as many who got involved in wearing costumes and cosplay making the day a special day out for the local families.

What’s more is that they will be back! Striking Events LTD have secured dates for 2024 with 2 more events like the most recent Comic Con Event, stay tuned on our Facebook pages to find out more information and we look forward to welcoming you back for 2024!
