Hatfield Leisure Centre - Badminton Tournament

Hatfield Leisure Centre Badminton Tournament 

Hatfield Leisure Centre hosted a No-Strings - Singles Tournament on Sunday the 11th of September 2022.

The tournament had no requirements for entry and was open to all levels, the competition saw 12 gentleman and 2 ladies register for the event. 

Entries included under 18's Junior Event, Under 45's Event and over 45's Event categories.

The Day started with a warm up time of 09:30, with the first round matches taken place at 10:00 and the final group stages being played soon after 11:00.

Finals began at around 11:30 with some great gameplay and sportsmanship being shown on all levels.

In the Ladies final, Meera Raghavendrawn vs Malar Bose, a closely contested match with Meera winning the tie.

Junior under 18's event saw some future talent with a close clarification on scores the winner was Sam Rusling, with a close runner up Jack Millar. 

Some more close games in the over 45's event, ended with Sajid Khan as our champion and Bob wang as our runner-up.

In the final of the men's event Dan Cole made it through to the final where he finished as runner-up to our eventual overall winner Kelvin Tam.

Congratulations to our competition winners and  runners-up and to all those who entered into the event, it was great to see a wide range of abilities and different ages participating in the tournament.

Special mention to Ian Robinson & Ku Qureshi for organising the event and to Hatfield Leisure Centre for providing the courts and trophies.
