There have been some big changes here at Hatfield Leisure Centre these past few weeks. We have fully completed all of the gym renovation works which has made a huge impact to the facility. The new gym layout offers a much more organised flow for our members as well as a more structured and consistent layout. We have worked tirelessly to try and ensure we have four main areas available in the gym.

Firstly with have the CV area. This has been reorganised so that the machines look far more orderly in there layout. Secondly, the fixed resistance machines. These have been reshuffled and relayed in such a way that they are now grouped by muscle. This has been a really positive change as it has brought a more logical and well thought out feel to the gym floor. We have core, upper and lower machines all together in clearly defined sections. We have also placed all of the cable towers and cable crossovers so they are situated together with all attachments neatly stacked in-between which keeps them from being moved all over the gym floor, thus making it easier for the FI team to keep the area tidy.

Thirdly we have the new free weights section of the gym. We have moved all of our plate loaded equipment into this area. This now offers a space for those who are wanting to weight train to do so with all available equipment in one area without the need for cutting back and forth from different parts of the gym, whilst also keeping the free weights separated from the main gym floor for those who are less confident in this area.  This is to increase the ‘inclusive of all’ feeling we strive to achieve in our centre.

Last but certainly by no means least we have the functional training zone. This is an incredible addition to the gym and by moving our training rig into a space of its own we have hugely opened the floor up for more circuit based exercise programmes. We will be looking to add FI led class in the Functional zone to hopefully encourage members to explore new ways of training and to really make the most of the new space available.

These works have been a long time coming for us here at Hatfield Leisure Centre but the whole team are excited and motivated to see the rest of the year out and begin the drive into the new year with the new gym.
