York College student’s achievements were celebrated on 30th June at their annual REACH Awards evening. Hosted this year at York’s National Railway Museum; Better sponsored 3 awards for Contribution to College Life & Community in 3 age groups. This sponsorship begins the partnership between Better and York College which will expand into apprenticeships, work placements and career support. 

Over 200 people attended the event, including students, their families, staff and sponsors; which was the first in-person event since the COVID lockdown. Sue Newton Dewton explains the importance of Better’s sponsor; “York College students are the employees of the future and it is great to be working in partnership with Better to celebrate their achievements at our REACH Awards, where Better kindly sponsored three awards”.

Winner of the Adult Contribution to College Life & Community Award: Alison Mellor

Winner of the Apprentice Contribution to College Life & Community Award: Harry Jenner

Winner of the Under 19s Contribution to College Life & Community Award: Danielle Coning

 

Attending the Awards, Community Sports Manager for Better York, Natalie Thomas said “it was a fantastic event to be part of and great to see so many students being recognised for their academic and personal achievements. It is important to be able to give back to the community of York and Better are looking forward to working closer with York College and supporting the prospective employees of the future”.
